Matthew has been applying Sport Psychology skills to athletes, coaches, parents and teams since 2012. He gained his undergraduate degree from The University of Northampton in Psychology and Sport Science in 2011 and his Masters degree in Sport and Exercise Psychology in 2012. Matthew has completed a 7 year long qualification to gain chartership and registration with the Health Care Professions Council as a practitioner Sport and Exercise Psychologist, and is now completing a PhD at Canterbury Christ Church University. In addition to this Matthew is training as CBT therapist.
Matthew is currently a chartered psychologist (CPsychol) with the British Psychological Society and is registered Health and Care Professions Council, the highest registration available for a psychologist in the United Kingdom. The work Matthew undertakes is guided by theory and is backed by research. He is insured privately, fully CRB checked, first aid, and child and vulnerable adult protection trained. Currently Matthew is serving on the Division of Sport and Exercise Psychology (BPS) committee where he contributes to the development of sport and exercise psychology as a profession.
Matthew has worked with clients of all ages and levels in the past and currently works with national and international level athletes from a variety of sports. He is currently research active and spends time when not consulting in research allowing him to keep at the cutting edge sport psychology, neuroscience and performance enhancement.
Matthew's sporting career has been long, he has played most sports over his many years studying at both recreational and competitive level. Currently Matthew is an athlete on the Team GB Shooting Talent Development programme with aims to attend the Commonwealth Games in 2022. More specifically Matthew has been a competitive Ski Racer, Trampolinist, Gymnast and Martial Artist. He has also gained many coaching and teaching qualifications in Skiing and various other sports. He is an all round sportsman and knows exactly what it takes to get to the highest level of sporting achievement.
