Mental Health and Well-being Clinic.
Mental health is becoming a greater issue within society. Matthew currently runs a mental health and well-being clinic one evening a week at the Coleby Centre in Sidcup. During the clinic athletes and the general public can book in for Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy aimed at specific problems that they are facing. An overview of the specific problems that I work with can be found below. If the problem you face is not there please get in contact to discuss your specific requirements and I will do everything I can to accomodate.
Cognitive-behaviour therapy (CBT)
Cognitive-behaviour therapy is a talking and doing therapy based on the principle that the way you think and behave can have a significant impact on the way you feel and function. Typically you can expect to have an initial clinical in-take, an assessment session, followed by a number of treatment sessions depending on the problems you present with.
Therapy for problems including:
Obsessive compulsive disorder
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Substance misuse (incl steroid use)
Obesity (exercise motivation problems)
Face to face - £75
Online - £75
Face to face - £75 if both attend

Each problem will have specific presentations, and will require different levels of treatment these can take varying amounts of time to treat. Each presentation will be discussed with you on a case by case basis.
Contact Matthew with some basic details and an initial intake will be conducted to see what can be achieved. A GP referral might also be useful. If you are a sport psychologist or sport scientist supporting an athlete with a suspected mental health disorder then please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss the options you have to best support your athletes through this tough time.
*group sessions are run when there are an appropriate number of people (5-8) presenting with the same problem and wishing to participate in group based CBT. The number of sessions will vary and be based on the specific problem and a discussion with all group members.
*Fees must be paid prior to the start of the session via BACS, Cash, or debit card. Regular sessions can be booked up in advance and paid for by standing order. Details on how to pay with be discussed prior to initial session.
•Online sessions will normally be done via Skype, Zoom, or Face time and will be outside of normal clinic hours.
Disclaimer: Matthew is an in-training CBT therapist meaning that he is not yet accredited by a CBT professional body , however as a trained and accredited psychologist he is bound by specific rules and will abide by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and Health Care professions Council (HCPC) code of ethics regardless. Further Matthew is supervised by an experience colleague and will regularly discuss case presentations in order to provide the highest standard of care. NOTE: fees will be different for sport psychology clients as Matthew is senior consultant sport psychologist who trains and supervises other psychologists.
